Hypertension - Need For Checks
The biggest problem with hypertension is that there are no symptoms attached to it. Many people never come to realize its presence until it's too late. Only when serious complications arise and urgent medical attention is required does the discovery come into picture, but the damage has already been done by then.
Immediate medical treatments become necessary once an individual has been diagnosed with hypertension and its negligence may lead to death. Normal levels of blood pressure are 120/80. If the figure rises, it is the case of high blood pressure or hypertension and if it goes down, it refers to low blood pressure.
Although they may not be applicable to all cases, a check for hypertension may be carried out due to one of the following reasons:

a) Damaged retina: Blood vessels in the retina tend to get damaged in severe cases of hypertension. The detection process involves surveying the retina with magnifying lenses and making note of the lining of the retina. Doctors who shine torches into the eyes generally test for this only.
b) Improper Sleeping: Under duress, people tend to sway away from normal way of living. Hypertension also leads to duress and causes changes in the sleeping habits of the affected people. The breathing process is disrupted. Heavy or deep breathing can be witnessed in most of the cases. This is because of the increased pressure on the heart.
c) Other things which may lead to detection of hypertension are headaches, feeling of laziness and lethargy, red eyes and unwillingness to indulge in work followed by lack of concentration.
Most of these symptoms are also associated with many other problems too. The most accurate detection technique is to do a fast blood pressure check to estimate the total levels. These machines are easily available in the market and can be bought to keep track of the blood pressure levels at home without having to take an appointment with a doctor every time.
The complications that may arise with hypertension are severe which makes remedial measures very important. First step is to change the lifestyle, which is generally the reason for such problems to exist in the first place. A human body is like a machine which needs to be exercised at all times else it tends to lose its flexibility and become faulty. The process has to be slow and steady without adding too much pressure from the word go. Let the body get accustomed to the new ways of living with time so that the metabolism rates may change accordingly.
Exercise and proper diets are the best solutions. Other methods include intake of medicines which may be in the form of normal pharmaceutical drugs or natural herbs. A physician would be the best person to be contacted for the most accurate diagnosis and diet description along with the exercise regime that needs to be followed. If the patient does not want to take advise from a doctor (not recommended), there are guide books available in stores which contain training and fitness methods and tips.
